Bulk Downloading from PMN

A growing set of bulk download files will be provided by the PMN to facilitate large-scale data analyses. These data sets can be obtained at the data downloads page.

When you arrive at the ftp site with the files, click on the appropriate file name and you will be sent to a page containing the data.

To move the data into Excel:

  • Select all of the data (control+A on most PCs).
  • Copy the data.
  • Use the "paste special" feature in Excel and choose to paste "As: Text" to preserve the columns in the data


To save the data as a text file in Firefox:

  • Under the File menu, click "Save Page As"
  • In the "Save as type" slot, select "Text Document"
  • This saved file can be opened by Notepad, Wordpad, etc.


To save the data as a text file in Internet Explorer:

  • Double-click on the desired file
  • Choose to "open" the file
  • This file will open in a text-editing program, such as Notepad where it can be saved
